A Palestinian human rights organization condemned the harsh conditions faced by detainees at “Israel's” Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs reported that inmates have access to water for only 45 minutes each day.

The organization detailed that electricity is cut off from 10 PM until noon the following day, worsening the already difficult living conditions.

Additionally, the food quality and quantity provided to detainees is reportedly insufficient.

The Commission also reported that detainees have been subjected to physical abuse and mistreatment, including assaults during visits with their lawyers.

Many prisoners are experiencing significant weight loss, which the organization attributes to a "policy of starvation."

Ibrahim Najajreh, head of the commission’s office in Hebron, stated that approximately 1,500 detainees are held at Ofer Prison.

He noted that due to the lack of storage facilities, detainees must carefully ration their limited water supply for drinking, personal hygiene, and bathing.

A joint statement from the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society revealed that over 10,100 Palestinians have been detained by the “Israeli” military in the West Bank since October 7, 2023.
